The path to the divine is not defined. Through out human history we have developed many different traditions to connect with our divine. with our belief that there is more than just humanities mere existence on this earth than lust, anger and violence. That we have a moral and correct action among our peers. basically I am always searching for some thing to put our belief in. Thankfully I have had a system of belief and faith in my life since a young age as a Muslim. but quoting Eboo Patel’s “acts of faith” we all have our holy language, the traditions that connect us to the divine. To many times i get stuck discussing the differences or justifying my faith to those around me instead of understanding our common goal of doing good in the world, the common goal to reach beyond our own needs and help the world move forward. Of course people will differ in which values they put above the others and what is right and how this is wrong, yet still faith all centers around one thing, a strong moral and value code. Just as we have accepted the pluralism of race in our nation, we must accept pluralism in our value system. its the only way those around us can accept our values and see that we truly have more in common than we have in difference. as you reach for the divine, god, allah, enlightenment, what ever u call it, remember that so are those around you, and with each others help maybe we can reach it.
Save Room - John Legend will always be the jam
I hate HATE HATE it when im with a group of guys and one or a few (there are usually the token guys in the group) can’t stop talking about how the group needs to hang out with women. They are defining their fun by which people are around them, specifically women. What the fact that there is a female in the room is going to make your life exponentially better?? honestly. We were watching the game last night and half way through the 4th quarter (the best part of the whole game) one of the guys kept bugging the group to go out a find women. Well what if i dont want too. Every consider i actually just wanna kick back and watch the game? I know it seems very anti-manish, but im all about that. I want some bro time, and if your not happy u can leave BRO.
